About the Role

We help people move, downsize, organize, and settle into new spaces. Much of our work supports older adults and their families through major life transitions, including downsizing. We also handle professional relocations, restoration moves (emptying a home after fire or flood so repairs can happen, then moving everything back), and estate moves (sorting and clearing a home after a death or a move into long-term care).

What You'll Do

  • Wrapping, padding, lifting, carrying, moving furniture and boxed contents

  • Loading and unloading moving trucks

  • Preparing, packing and unpacking boxes, furniture and other items associated with the move

  • Gathering items for packing

  • Assisting the Team Leader with the organization of client possessions

  • Attending regular staff meetings

  • Other duties as assigned

Who This Role Fits

  • 1-5 years of experience with a professional moving company

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Team-focused mentality

  • Physical fitness, flexibility, endurance and strength

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Experience working with older adults

  • Excellent listening and response skills

  • Tact and diplomacy

  • Attention to health and safety

Physical Demands

This is an active role. You should expect to:

  • Lift items up to approximately 50 lbs unassisted; heavier items are handled as team lifts

  • Lift, carry, bend, and reach repeatedly throughout the shift

  • Stand and move for most of the shift

  • Work in homes, condos, retirement residences, and storage spaces (stairs, narrow hallways, multi-floor environments)

What You Need to Start

  • Eligibility to work in Canada

  • A smartphone for shift communication and time tracking

  • A successful Vulnerable Sector Check from your local police service. We provide instructions.

  • Black running-style shoes suitable for active indoor work; safety-toe versions recommended but not required

  • Black work pants suitable for active work. Leggings are not appropriate for this role.

  • Reliable transportation to our depot or to assigned client locations across the service area

We provide seasonally appropriate branded ONESource work shirts and a 10% discount at Mark’s for required gear.

Hours, Travel, and Pay

Hours vary with client demand, generally 10 to 30 per week. This is a true part-time role, and applicants should be comfortable with some week-to-week variation as the business grows. For each shift you will be told whether to report to the depot or directly to a client location. Paid time begins at your reporting location, and travel between job sites during a shift is paid.

Experienced Movers start at $19.50 per hour. Strong performers can also grow into Team Leader roles (higher rate, full G driver's licence required).

Tips, when provided by clients, are shared among the team members who worked on that job. Vacation pay is provided according to Ontario employment standards, and all employees are covered by WSIB.

We review applications on a rolling basis and are hiring immediately for up to 2 Experienced Mover positions.
